Pantech phone with iPod-like scroll wheel

Will there ever be an iPod phone? It feels like this question has been around for ages. South Korean phone maker Pantech has introduced the phone to the left. Is this gonna be an official Apple licensed product I hear you ask. No it´s not. This familiar-looking wheel in the middle is Pantech’s ‘revolutionary touch-wheel sensor’ which is not only used for the phones built in music player, but also for the phone’s camera.
The PG-3600V is on the market in Hong Kong and Taiwan. [via]

Treo 700p shipping by the end of the month

According to Engadget Sprint is gonna be the first seller to have the Treo 700p on the market even though they missed out on offering a special “be the first, buy exclusive” one. The lack of WiFi sure is a disappointment, though. The pricing will circle around $400 after discount, which means you have to sign a 2-year contract.

Nokia E50

The Nokia E50 is a quad-band (EGSM 850/900/1800/1900) cell phone for the so called business class but it´s also including common features like:

- up to 70MB built-in memory (MP3 Player capability)
- a 1.3 megapixel camera
- S60 3rd edition smartphone platform
- email support via: among others BlackBerry connect, Visto Mobile

This cell phone is definitely worth a look so watch out if you´re on your way shopping for a new mobile.

Motorola Q to be launched next week: price $199

The Motorola Q was originally said to be launched within this week. The final launch date has been postponed for another week, but the good news is that is will feature EV-DO (!), Bluetooth 1.2 and it even got Stereo Speakers. Not that bad, actually. What I like the most is that you can order it online starting on May 31 or buy it in store up from June 6. As the headline reads the price will be $199 (given that you´re signing up for 2 year contract of course).

Nokia N91

Infosync reviews the Nokia N91 and says: “Who would have thought: after dragging its feet for several years, Nokia is finally making a jump to the forefront of mobile technology again. Part of the maker’s new N series of multimedia handsets, the Nokia N91 smartphone unveiled here today in Amsterdam is destined to give Sony Ericsson’s W800 walkman phone a solid run for its money - unless it runs out of battery life first.”

It goes on with:

“Integrating a 4 GB hard drive, the Series 60 based Nokia N91 is a surprisingly small smartphone given its mind-boggling feature set. The stainless steel exterior feels comfortable and solid, but you’d better not be suffering from spotless-related obsessive compulsive disorders as keeping it neat and clean is likely to prove virtually impossible. ‘

Jayvee at Cellphone9 had a chance to take a closer, hands-on look at the Nokia N91 over lunch the other day, and likes the look and feel of the phone, noting that, “It´s light and compact! Wasn´t expecting this at all, even if Nokia claimed that the 4GB hard drive didn´t weigh a thing. It feels good to hold the N91.

HP iPaq hw6915 PocketPC phone reviewed - Engadget Mobile

Despite the fact that this PocketPC phone has a square screen of 240×240 it does have a lot of cool features that are worth mentioning. Engadget Mobile names:

- quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- a solid keyboard
- a powerful built-in camera
- a full-featured wireless radio manager
- A2DP in the Bluetooth stock

Although its screen resolution won´t support any 3rd-party application this PocketPC phone is worth a look. You might wanna check out the whole review.

HTC Hermes becomes Xda Trion

It seems pretty sure that one of the year’s “hotties” when it comes to Windows Mobile devices is getting ready kick in with O2 in Germany. Engadget Mobile reports that the HTC Hermes could have been seen all dolled up in O2 in the past and now it’s gone live on O2 Germany’s website as the “O2 XDA trion.” It goes on with “While the T-Mobile variant’s Samsung processor brings 300MHz to the table, O2 seems to be feeding the hungry masses with a bonus 100MHz and a pair of extra buttons around the d-pad, both welcome additions. The device takes 3G baby steps for now by launching with UMTS, but an upgrade to HSDPA is promised.” This mobile device is said to be shipping in July and it actually looks pretty good. [via]

Sprint launches LG LX550 - Engadget

Engadget revealed that Sprint launches the LG LX550 as the fusic. It goes on with “Sure, maybe it’s not the most skillfully named (or styled) phone we’ve laid eyes upon, but it’s got EV-DO, A2DP, an FM transmitter and radio, 1.3 megapixel camera, and MicroSD (bundled with 64MB) for $179.99 after rebate and two-year contract.” I must say I´ve seen better, but still.

Nokia 5500

Here we go with another phone of the “5″ series. Due to this number this phone is supposed to be more of an outdoor one which simply means it´s handy. It features:

- 2 Megapixel camera
- built-in flashlight
- S60 platform

If you´re the type of guy who wants to make a call and perhaps take quick picture you might wanna consider the Nokia 5500. You might wanna read a complete review as well.

Asus P525 Pocket PC phone

With this Pocket Pc phone Asus goes quite a different way than the usual Windows Mobile, QWERTY keyboard ones of these days, but beside this lack of textual freedom you might get a nice Pocket Pc phone.

- quad-band GSM
- 2.8 inch display
- 802.11b WiFi
- Bluetooth 2.0
- push email
- Skype support

Sadly it´ll not support UMTS at all, but as you WiFi you might be doing a lot of that stuff this way. The lack of writing fast and clear would be my only doubt.
